As of the date of this writing, Timothy’s story is still unfolding as his case and its surrounding circumstances are being investigated. This writing provides a brief synopsis regarding the inquiry into “What Happened with Timothy?” Certain specifics may be excluded due to their current ambiguity or may be explored in a distinct context on this website and in Timothy’s biography, “From Dreams to Ashes.”
Before Timothy’s sudden demise, Sarea, the wife and mother had abandoned the family and had been living in Las Vegas for nearly a year. Timothy did not know she was back when the kids were taken. Timothy had gotten a protective order against Sarea that she had evaded. Her sister was served with the same order, and Sarea had been in contact with the process server several times and had agreed to meet but didn’t.
To get the protective order, Timothy starts out telling the court that Sarea fled to Las Vegas to avoid communicating with him concerning their divorce. See, About the wife, Sarea.
A few years back, Timothy made the difficult decision to file for divorce from Sarea. Despite their mutual agreement to part ways, Sarea chose to resist the divorce proceedings. Instead of embracing the opportunity for a fresh start and a harmonious co-parenting relationship for the sake of their children, Sarea embarked on a destructive path that only served to harm everyone involved.
During a distressing incident in June 2022, Timothy’s parents were unfortunate witnesses to Sarea’s aggressive behavior towards him, a fact not disclosed elsewhere in these writings but is on record with the court. Seeking support for himself and his children during this challenging time, Timothy, with Sarea’s permission, invited his parents to live with them. However, Sarea’s subsequent refusal to cooperate and her attempts to sow discord between Timothy, his parents, and the children further escalated the situation. This led to heightened concerns, prompting the parents to document Sarea’s abusive conduct and its detrimental effects on the family dynamics.
According to the parents, Sarea appeared indifferent to the well-being of her children, as she unreasonably insisted on no contact with them while sharing residence. Despite initially agreeing to allow the parents to be present while she prepared to move out, she changed her mind and decided to sever all family ties for no rational reason. Following a threat of suicide, and to prevent it, Timothy informed his parents that he agreed to Sarea’s demand for them to leave. Because they did not move out when demanded, she obtained a protection order for no contact that included Timothy, herself, and their children. Consequently, the parents were forcibly removed by protection orders obtained for non-violent interactions with the children like, interrupting their routines when not and giving them treats when they were taking them. Sarea cut off her children from a family that had been involved with them frequently and consistently since birth. The children’s grandparents on both sides had been a constant in the boys’ lives, but now the children are kept hostage and away from them.
The removal of Timothy’s parents in September 2022 was expected to mark a turning point in the divorce proceedings. Timothy expressed willingness to work on the relationship, but subsequent recorded phone conversations indicate that they were not successful. In those conversations Sarea admits her abusive behavior was harmful, and the court has Timothy’s filing showing that after the parents’ departure, she continued her abusive behavior, including staging fake suicides in front of the children and Timothy, leading to hospitalization for mental evaluation, diagnosed as needing therapy.
In Timothy’s court filing for his protective order, he told the court how Sarea used their children to deliberately hurt him. She lied and had him falsely arrested, then obtained a protective order against him to keep him from returning to their home. To get the protective order, Sarea told the court that Timothy beat her and that the children feared him.
Those who knew Timothy knew he was not prone toward violence nor had an abusive nature. Contrarily, from day to day, he and the children did not know what to expect from Sarea. Her chronic depression and temper tantrums were consistently unpredictable and consistently directed toward her self-interest.
In December 2022, just before Christmas, Timothy was forced to stay away from his home and away from his boys according to Sarea’s protective order. In January, weeks after Timothy had found a new home, he immediately challenged Sarea’s protective order to have it dismissed against him, or at least have the kids removed from it.
Remember, to get the order of protection, Sarea told the court Timothy had beat her and kids were afraid of him. During the January hearing to dismiss the order, she told the judge that Timothy never beat her. The judge made the decision to reunite the children with their father but maintained the order against Timothy. In March, Sarea went back to court and got the dismissal of the protective order against Timothy, as well.
Shortly afterward, in February, Sarea sent the two oldest boys to live with Timothy, at different times, then unexpectedly on March 20, she appeared at his new residence with the youngest, stayed until the morning of the 22nd, then absconded with the family’s car to Las Vegas without prior notice, leaving the youngest behind with the older two.
Attempts to contact Sarea were met with silence until her mother and sister intervened, issuing menacing threats to harm Timothy and abduct the children back. This behavior was baseless, illogical, and unwarranted, as Sarea had voluntarily left their children in Timothy’s care and her abandonment gave him full custody by law.
Consequently, Timothy sought and was awarded the orders of protection against Sarea and her sister, because of the alarming threats of kidnapping after Sarea had abandoned them. The protective orders were granted to safeguard Timothy and his children from them; however, the orders were blatantly ignored. See, About the Wife Sarea
From March 2023 until January 2024, while residing in Las Vegas, Sarea continued to create problems for Timothy sporadically, neglecting to offer any financial or emotional support for her children. As time proceeded and despite the limited communication during this period, Sarea led Timothy to believe that they were moving towards a mutually agreeable divorce and custody agreement for their children. However, it has now come to light that Sarea and sister may have been making secret plans with her friend, the sitter, who also happened to be the person Timothy had relied on for help caring for his children, after Sarea abruptly left their three-year-old.
Timothy had a full time job and desperately needed assistance with the children. At the time, the friend-sitter, who had eight children of her own, claimed to have lost her apartment and was in desperate need of assistance to find a new home. This individual had maintained a close relationship with Timothy and Sarea, and with Timothy during times when she and Sarea were not on speaking terms. Throughout the years, whenever the friend-sitter required financial aid, Timothy had always stepped in to help as much as he could. This time, Timothy graciously offered to accommodate her and her children in his two-bedroom apartment under the agreement of a temporary stay, to help her find her own place, while he dealt with his divorce.
The living arrangement between Timothy and the sitter took a turn for the worse as the sitter’s demands escalated to the point of feeling entitled to privileges for herself and her children to the detriment of his children she was to help with. This shift in dynamics began to negatively impact Timothy’s well-being and peace of mind, as the sitter resorted to manipulative tactics to coerce him into continuing to care for her and her children, straying far from the initial agreement of mutual assistance.
Following the new year holiday in January 2024, Timothy decided to take legal action and petitioned the court to have the friend-sitter removed from his residence, recognizing the toxic environment that had developed due to irreconcilable conflicts and ongoing threats to harm. Despite the clear evidence of abuse towards him and his children, his plea for a protective order was denied, further intensifying the tension between them.
Upon learning of his failed attempt to secure legal protection against the friend-sitter, Timothy experienced a sudden and unexplained stomach illness lasting two days. Afterwards his insulin went missing only to reappear days later. Subsequently, he found himself in the Intensive Care Unit battling high blood sugar levels he never had before, a concerning development that further underscored the distressing situation he found himself in.
While waiting his release from the hospital, during the time of the kidnapping, Timothy was unaware of his estranged wife’s return. Little did he know that Sarea had already relocated her job to Mesa from Las Vegas. Anticipating her return towards the end of January, he was oblivious to her presence. He had learned earlier about the friend-sitter’s contact with Sarea, specifically regarding his substantial $500,000 life insurance policy, that he began to harbor suspicions.
While Timothy was in the Intensive Care Unit, having a discussion with the medical assistants, the sitter arrived in his car, interjected herself in the conversation and adamantly opposed Timothy’s release, which lead to a heated exchange where she insisted, he needed to stay because he would die if he left. Still feeling the effects of his unusual diabetic episode, Timothy wanted to go home. As his release was imminent, the friend-sitter refused to hand over his keys when he asked for them and was forced to leave, departing without informing Timothy of her plans for his children, despite lacking his authorization to take his car or them. Meanwhile, Sarea had contacted the hospital to inquire about Timothy’s condition but did not leave any message regarding her taking and having possession of the children.
After the discovery that his children had been taken, Timothy contacted the police who appeared to take the emergency report but did nothing. Despite his desperate pleas for help, the police turned a blind eye to his plight. They allowed his estranged wife who had abandoned the children for almost a year to abduct them in disregard to Timothy’s protective court order, his custodial parental rights, their children’s rights, by assisting her in keeping their children away from him.
Timothy’s protective orders against Sarea and her sister was granted in April 2023. Knowing that Timothy had obtained the order against them, Sarea evaded her service until, February 2024. But before she was served, she obtained another protective order against Timothy to prevent him from pursuing her, to get the children back she had abandoned. But that order was not valid and its serving on Timothy was interrupted. However, during the time Sarea had been evading Timothy’s protective order and until she was finally served, she had abducted the children and had them in her possession.
Even after Timothy’s order was served, Sarea stood firm in defiance, and would not return the children to their home with their father, instead challenged the order to have it dismissed to continue keep them from him.
Timothy responded, not knowing it would be his last filing with the court to deny her request; but because of his sudden death, the judge ignored the violations and dismissed the case leaving the children hostage with a mother who according to the father’s filings with that court, had chronic mental problems, had abused and neglected them, and had abandoned them to hurt him. She had maliciously interrupted their family life and schooling to torture their father who only loved and took care of them.
Timothy was a type-1 diabetic all of his life, minus two years. All those involved knew of his condition, therefore his vulnerability. It was his vulnerability that was used to torture him by infliction of undue emotional strain. Depravity and lack of duty led to a tragic outcome from Timothy suffering abuse, harassment, threats, and most devastating, the separation from his children at the hands of his friend-sitter, his estranged wife and the very authorities meant to help him retrieve his children.
It is unacceptable that Timothy’s children were never returned to him, and that he was denied the opportunity to even communicate with them, which was and still is continued abuse inflicted on the children. The police’s inaction and refusal to assist him in enforcing the protective order is a failure of duty, a betrayal of trust, and gross violations of constitutional rights. Timothy deserved justice, support, and the chance to be reunited with his children, but instead, he met a tragic end due to the system’s shortcomings and depravity of the perpetrators.
